Brenda, we're very lucky! Lots of great trails in our area.
Sharon, Depends on what dogs we've taken, where we're going, etc. Heavy hiking with Strider/Voodoo, and lighter hikes with Henry/Irie.
Irie will be 10 months old on April 6th, and still very much a pup.
Kind of a PSA: Don't drag your dog out on long, strenuous hikes unless they are conditioned for such activity (and don't guess or assume. Make sure you know what the hell you're taking about). Clear exercise with your vet, especially with a pup. Irie is a BIG pup at 85 pounds, and too much exercise could be horrible on those joints. But, even small to medium size dogs will suffer damage if they aren't ready for it. Spend the bucks and talk to your vet! /end annoying PSA :D
I live in rural northern WV with 4 dogs, 3 cats and my husband. We've got a few lovely acres in the country. I enjoy it, but I also appreciate the fact Pittsburgh is only 40 minutes away.

Oh, awesome. I envy your nearby hiking area for sure.
So when you go on a hike, are they a couple of hours?
Irie isn't even a year old yet? Still a puppy!
